Roots
Every tree has their own texture, appearance, and inside. Their roots have been spread and grown underneath the soil and their leaves grown only to meet their death directly above the roots that once nurtured them. In my life my roots would probably be defined as where I have grown up This home has provided shelter and security for three generations of my family. My mother once slept where my sister sleeps now, and my brother now sleeps where my uncle once dreamt every night, and I sleep where my grandfather once formed his greatest ideas. My father became the person he is today less than a block down the street. A place where I have spent countless hours running in the backyard and aiding my grandmother in holiday creations. A place where I have been told the stories of how my past roots have shaped the Sweeney family to be the unique bundle of love it is today. My roots are a reflection of me. Although, my roots are not found in only one small town, my roots are also in France, Italy, Belgium, England, Ireland, Holland, Costa Rica, Mexico, Up North, and Chicago. The places that have nurtured me to grow and bloom in my years of immense growth. These roots have shaped me to be who I am today, have made my leaves prosper and grow, each bud to become more complex and unique with each root I form. Not only have places established my roots but people as well. Those who have aided me to grow taller, have made my core stronger, and have helped me withstand any wind storm. A tree can not survive without grass, soil, sunlight, and water to nurture it. I am lucky as I have never had to live through a drought. I wish for my future to continue to grow my roots. To allow them to flourish throughout the world and to grow among more people. For my buds to continue to blossom with each glimpse of sunlight and raindrop. My roots will someday be passed onto my seeds and their roots will be passed onto their own seeds and knowing that my legacy will live on I need to create one that future generations will be proud to come from.
